Influences

The people who
shaped my thinking.

None of us develops in isolation. Throughout my life, I have deliberately sought out people whose thinking, experience and example could help me see further.

Some became personal mentors. Others influenced me through seminars, books, recordings, coaching or the way they lived and worked. What mattered was never simply hearing the idea. It was studying it, testing it and putting it into practice.

I have always been interested in who shaped the people I admire. This is my acknowledgement of some of the people who shaped me.

Acknowledging the lineage

We see further because others came before us.

In the Vedic tradition, knowledge begins with an acknowledgement of the teachers who carried it forward. When I learnt meditation, the teaching began by honouring the lineage of masters who had studied, practised and shared that wisdom across generations.

That principle has stayed with me.

None of us develops in isolation. We learn from people who have done the work before us—people whose experience allows us to stand on their shoulders and see further than we could have seen alone.

The responsibility is not to imitate them. It is to listen, question, practise and make the learning our own. Knowledge becomes meaningful when it passes through our experience, changes our behaviour and helps us contribute something of value in return.

These profiles are my acknowledgement of five people who have shaped the way I think, work and live. Each gave me something different. Together, their teachings became part of the foundation from which I continue to learn, create and evolve.

They are also a thank-you—to those who did the work, shared what they discovered and made the path a little clearer for those who followed.
